Savannah is a recessive colour mutation. The savannah gene has a reddish to brown colouration on the dorsal pattern. Hatchlings start out lightly coloured and get darker troughout the years. Savannahs possess black-bordered blotches, aberrant neck flags and a speckeled background. The face patterning has white borders and is often elongated. The ventral scales have an orange and dark yellow colouration.
