Pastel Maitai is a combination of the polygenic pastel trait, the recessive sable mutation, the recessive toffeebelly mutation and the heterozygous incomplete dominant arctic mutation. This combination has an orange to brown colour with older specimens having a browner colour. Maitais often have green hues coming through. The pastel trait intesifies the colours in this combination. The arctic mutation will lighten the snake up as it ages and gives the borders a higher concentration of melanin. The arctic mutation can give the maitai morph a more rusty colour.
