Pastel is a polygenic trait. Pastels have lighter and brighter colours with somewhat reduced belly markings. After each shed they lighten up and are specifically attractive in combination with other genes. To recognise this gene in a clutch, the hatchlings have to shed a couple of times. There are several lines of pastel; RBE, Rhodes and Longhitano.
