Shadow Superarctic is a combination of the polygenic shadow trait and the homozygous incomplete dominant superarctic mutation. Snakes with the shadow trait have larger squares in the pattern, or blocky saddles, with a heavy concentration of melanin along the dorsal scales. The head pattern and other blotches have black edges, giving it a shadow appearance. As they age they will lighten and become whiter, like any superarctic.
